Goji is also known by a number of other names, including goji berry, wolfberry, boxthorn and matrimony vine.

China is one of the only growers of the crop at this time. Other Asian countries have been growing too, but they do not produce nearly as much and most recently North America, but hardly any, produce, compared to counterparts and consumer demands. We have to be grateful for they have discovered such a superfruit. The yield in China is a couple hundred thousand tons of the berries each year, and we see that is growing.

Goji berries have many uses aside from just eating by the handful as a snack which is very healthy. Probably one of the healthiest ingredients we carry, for its rich nutrients base and Some may not like the taste as much so mixing into smoothies, yogurt and oatmeal might be a good option for you. The berry is quite chewy and sticky so it’s good to make bars with. Also it makes a great tea! Add a handful of goji berries to a big glass of hot or cold water and let sit and hydrate for 5 to 10 minutes. They become plump and juicy. You can drink the tea and eat the hydrated berries which are loaded with antioxidants. Do that every night for an exceptional routine, and you will no doubt rest like a baby.

It’s hard to cultivate because not everyone wants to be patient, and put in the time and effort for their growing and yielding. After seeding it can take up to 5 years. Most other fruits usually fruit in 1 to 4 years. The Himalayan Tree is where the berry comes from. It is a gorgeous plant looking tree with golden red berries flowering on it. It’s delicately cared with caution, because it is so light.
